Awesome! Much thanks for this document. I followed these directions to get a UVC camera (Gigaware i.e. Radio Shack web cam made by Sonix Technology) and VAR-SOM-OM44 board showing a preview. Preview is clear with no discernible lag. I'm going to dive in now and try to capture the frames. I can confirm attempting to take a still image capture and/or enter camcorder mode crashes the Camera app.
